Through their teams, they join a family. This is no different for seven-year-old Elias who has been a member of Southwestern University Men\u2019s Soccer since 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamimpact.org\/families\/#faqs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Elias lives with acute lymphoblastic leukemia<\/a>, but this does not slow down his energetic and bubbly personality in the slightest. When he joined the team in 2024, he quickly became a beloved member. Whether he is attending practices or cheering from the sidelines at games, Elias found a community that welcomes him with open arms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The most influential figure in his experience is his teammate, Raghav.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-9-16 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"2025 Teammate of the Year: Elias &amp; Raghav, Southwestern Soccer\" width=\"563\" height=\"1000\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/uqmBQcMPeB4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over the past two years, Raghav has become much more than a teammate to Elias. The pair has grown a relationship both on and off the field, their friendship rooted in fun, consistency, and support. They may train together, but Raghav always makes time off the pitch as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Elias understands the importance of the small moments in a friendship just as much as the big moments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHe is my friend and he makes me laugh,\u201d he shared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sometimes, it is just that simple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Whether they are coloring, playing card games, or just spending time together, Raghav\u2019s presence has become an important part of Elias\u2019 Team IMPACT experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cRaghav has been an amazing guy with Elias and his brothers,\u201d Elias\u2019 family shared. \u201cNot only is he a great player but a great friend for the last two years.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The friendship extends beyond Elias and the team. These small moments may seem insignificant, but they create an environment where the family feels celebrated, valued, and a true part of the team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The connections between the family and team are especially apparent in Elias\u2019 nomination video for Raghav, where the brothers joined in to create a drumroll before announcing his name. The video captures the joy and spirit of the pair\u2019s friendship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Raghav has shown that being a teammate is more than what happens within the ninety minutes of the game.
