And from the very beginning, De\u2019Andre Harvey was right there beside him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ethan lives with multiple diagnoses including autism and cerebral palsy. Social connections can be hard to come by, but the opportunity to build a real, meaningful relationship around something he loves was life-changing. \u201cHe doesn\u2019t warm up to many people,\u201d his family shared. \u201cBut by the second year, we saw him grow in those relationships and truly look forward to every moment. That was priceless.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De\u2019Andre didn\u2019t just treat Ethan with kindness\u2014he treated him like an equal. \u201c<strong>He was always so genuine, caring, patient, and kind<\/strong>,\u201d Ethan\u2019s parents, Andrea and David, said. \u201c<strong>He didn\u2019t treat Ethan like he was different. When Ethan was around him, he laughed and joked. He showed up for everything, from basketball games to community events to one-on-one hangouts. One unforgettable moment came at the <em>Incredible Games<\/em>, a local version of the Special Olympics, where De\u2019Andre played, danced, and cheered alongside Ethan and his friends. \u201c<strong>He didn\u2019t just attend\u2014he <em>engaged<\/em>. He made every kid there feel important<\/strong>,\u201d Andrea and David recalled. \u201cEthan couldn\u2019t stop talking about it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De\u2019Andre went above and beyond every chance he got. When Team IMPACT opened nominations for Teammate of the Year, Ethan and his family didn\u2019t hesitate\u2014De\u2019Andre was their guy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"2025 Teammate of the Year: Ethan &amp; De&#039;Andre, Tampa Basketball\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Nla8troz2uE?list=PLp9kBZR8XRz04itoO8ME46OucLblbinSZ\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over time, Ethan\u2019s confidence soared. What started as a connection through sports became a source of confidence, laughter, and belonging. \u201c<strong>We can\u2019t thank De\u2019Andre enough for what he\u2019s done. He\u2019s made a difference in Ethan\u2019s life\u2014and in ours.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thanks to De\u2019Andre Harvey and the University of Tampa Men\u2019s Basketball team, Ethan doesn\u2019t just feel included. He feels proud.
